Spider-Man: Game Review

Hey guys! I’ve already done one game review, but I figured I’d do another one since I just love video games so much. I’ve previously done the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which is one of my all time favorite games. Today, I’ve decided to do Spider-Man for the PS4 since I think it it may be above Zelda on my list. Anyway, here’s my review of Spider-Man for the PS4.

 Spider-Man (PS4)

I got Spider-Man for the PS4 over Christmas, and I think that was my favorite winter break I’ve ever had. Everyday I’d wake up and spend hours playing this game, eat some lunch, then play it until dinner. Looking back on it, that probably wasn’t the best decision I could’ve made. Go figure it took about a month to get my sleep schedule back to normal. Anyway, I became obsessed with this game.

For someone who had never used a PS4 controller before, it was extremely easy for me to get used to it. I actually got the PS4-Spider-Man bundle for Christmas since Spider-Man is only available on that console. Kind of crappy if you ask me, but I suppose the marketing ploy working because I ended up getting one.

I’ve seen a couple Spider-Man movies and Peter Parker is definitely my favorite, but I’m not an expert on all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s villains or anything. What I’m trying to say is that I still completely understood the story-line and who all of the main important characters are.

One of my favorite things about the game is the web-slinging dynamic. You have the ability to navigate all over New York (probably my favorite city) in so many different ways. You can scale buildings, sky dive, do tricks in the air, or just do the normal web-swinging from building to sky-rise. When you’re pressing R2 and swinging around, it really feels like you’re there. It’s absolutely insane how real this game feels.

Another thing I just love about this game is the combat. I can’t even tell you why, but it just feels so real- exactly like the web-slinging. It’s sort of like if Spider-Man was real, this is how he would swing. This is how he would fight. It’s just so amazing how they incorporated this feeling to the player.

Getting back on topic, the fighting just comes with such ease. Whether you’re punching, tying somebody up with your webs, or dangling somebody by their throat midair, the fighting in Spider-Man for the PS4 is just beautiful. Is it wrong to call fighting beautiful? I’m not sure, that doesn’t seem right.

The characters and the character development is another thing I just admire about this game. It’s breathtaking. Peter Parker is the perfect everything. Is that too cheesy? Probably. This entire review is just me questioning my life decisions.

Besides Peter, I also love MJ and Yuri, two of the other main character who play a big part in the story. Sometimes throughout the game, you can even control MJ which always scares me a little bit. I always feel bad when I accidentally get her killed then have to restart the mission. She’s a fragile human while Spider-Man is… well, Spider-Man.

Sometimes I even found myself caring for the villains. I have no idea why, but all of the stories are special. Also, while I’m here, fighting bosses is another one of the best parts in the game. I’m currently trying to beat a double boss fight on my main save game and I’m having the time of my life.

Exploring is also a huge part of this game. Everywhere you turn, there’s a crime that needs to be solved. Whether you’re on your way to Aunt May’s office to crash on her couch or you’re going to the site of a nuclear explosion, crime will always stop you along the way. Thugs will stop you wherever you go, but you’ll stop them every time.

I could just go on and on about this game, but I suppose I’ll just stop here. It’s so amazing.

As always, I’ll leave the link so the Amazon posting for this game here.

Spider-Man for the PS4 cost $39.99 on Amazon and the game plus the console cost $335.99. The console is a little bit expensive, as always, but I think forty bucks is an amazing price for the game. It’s actually cheaper than Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Overall, I give Spider-Man for the PS4 a whopping 9/10.
